How Jumping Training Can Help You Increase Your Vertical and Why it Works

Whether you want to start your jumping training due to sports or that cool video on YouTube, you can do so with a specific set of principles. The first thing to understand is you don’t just spring off your feet from some powerful leg movement. If you truly want to get the most from your jumping abilities, then it starts by powering your jumps from the core of your body (the torso). This means your arms, legs, and feet are all important as well.

Understanding this principle however, is not enough. Not even close. Often, a lack of knowledge of correct principles is made even worse by lack of knowledge of proper techniques. Usually, one does not follow the other. In a lot of cases, coaches and trainers who may have nailed down the principles accurately demonstrate the wrong technique in actual jumping training. Besides not being able to deliver on the promised increase in vertical jump height, this exposes an athlete to the risk of serious knee injury.

First off, men and women are not only biologically different. Their physical makeup is also different. Hence, they jump differently. Women in particular, tend to jump and land in a more upright position and they tend to jump off with an incorrect knee position. Their anatomical differences contribute to these differences and predispose women jumpers to serious injuries. Understanding this helps coaches, trainers and athletes alike to work on correcting this problem early on.

What it comes down to is if you want to increase your vertical leaps, then you have to take a scientific approach. Instead of focusing in on only one or two areas, you have to learn the ins and outs of area part of your jumping training regimen. This means getting a better grasp of the anatomy, the safety, specific nutritional strategies, and several other areas. If you don’t acknowledge each of them in the beginning, you’ll soon find out that many mistakes will be made.

True, some are gifted athletes with natural talent. But while that certainly contributes to motivation, genetics is no substitute for hard work. If you dig up the backgrounds of successful athletes, you’ll find one common thing – they worked hard to hone their skills and develop their natural talent. Thus, learning how to increase vertical jumps properly may not turn you into Air Jordan but it would certainly help you jump a tad bit higher.

Obviously, jumping training is not just about leg and ankle power. Core strength is as important. It goes without saying that including specific exercises into your jumping training routine helps to improve your vertical jump. When you train, don’t forget to

In the end, always remember to warm-up and stretch. It’s probably the most important part of your regimen because it gets the juices flowing. Without it, you are more susceptible to injury and several setbacks shortly thereafter. We can think of any sport that doesn’t have some sort of warm-up. Uh, we don’t consider poker a sport, it’s a strategical game.

Do some abs exercises. You need core strength to power your jumps. Building your abdominal muscle is the key to that strength. Crunches and oblique abs exercises should be on the plate. Your entire midsection needs to be toned and strengthen to lift your body off the ground even during jumping training.
